...MEXICAN FANS GET FIRED UP FROM MAZATLAN IN THE SOUTH TO TIJUANA IN THE NORTH |
“This is awesome. Thanks
a bunch!!! Had a great time down in Tijuana.” – Brian, San Diego No country has professional baseball nearly year-round like Mexico. From the Mexican Summer League that
tips off in March and continues through the summer, to the Mexican Winter League that begins in October and ends in January,
baseball rules down Mexico way! Naturally, with its long and storied back history and talented players, Mexico has been a participant
in the World Baseball Classic, and you can learn all about Mexican baseball in World in Ballpark: Baseball Goes Global,
which is available for purchase at the Buy Joe's Guides page. A country with passionate
baseball fans, eight teams plow the Mexican Winter League, from the California border town of Mexicali to as far south as
the resort town of Mazatlan. Come springtime, a total of 16 teams, from Merida to Monterrey, duke it out for bragging
rights in the Mexican Summer League. And if that wasn't enough, there's plenty of sun, surf and scenery south of the border.

(above right) MEXICALI EAGLES PLAYERS RELAX AFTER THEIR PRE-GAME MEAL: WHY TACOS, OF COURSE |
"Chill" would be a ideal term
to describe the pre-game atmosphere among players in the winter leagues, but especially so in Mexico.
Pre-game meals? Well, tacos,
of course - right from the same concession stands as fans. So what if you might have to sign an autograph or
two during the casual, relaxed feasting with your teammates? Hey, as one player quipped, "good grub is good grub."
Yeah, they do things a little
differently down in Mexico.
A little sleepy are you, following
your mid-day nap? No problem. Head to the ballpark and you'll be awoken by the pre-game music rather quickly. That is, if
you also don't lose your hearing.
Hungry? In a shopping mood?
No problem. You'll find more tacos and "cerveza" at your disposal than your stomach can handle, plus vendors hawking cell
phones, hats and more in the concourses. If you want to view a sample of the
guide and how easy the guide works, visit the MLB Ballpark Trips page.
