Dramatic, mountain backdrops and a friendly populace make a baseball journey to the most beautiful settings
of Austria worthwhile. The Austria Baseball League has eight teams scattered around the small European country, which borders
Germany and the Czech Republic. The sport has a strong, small niche following in a country where winter sports like skiing
and snowboarding rule.

Canadian coaches and players, along with some U.S. and Japanese influence, have helped to improve baseball
in Austria. At least two players on each team in Austria's top league could play college ball in the U.S. In fact, a few Austrians
have played in U.S. college programs.
